When the church building was erected in 1927 it was intended as a temporary structure.   Eighty years on the building is showing its age and is beginning to burst at the seams.   For an active, growing church, the building is no longer fit for purpose.  The building places severe restrictions on the current activities and significant limitations on our plans to develop and grow.  We have therefore drawn up plans for an ambitious but essential redevelopment of the building which are enclosed.  The aim is to create a church fit for purpose in the 21^st century; one that enables current activities to be run effectively and to be developed.   Most crucially, the redeveloped building will facilitate the church’s vision of engaging with and serving the local community more effectively.

• To increase space and allow a more flexible use of space
• To improve access to and movement through the building – particularly for those with disability
• To bring facilities up to date – particularly kitchen and toilets
• To enhance the overall environment of the building

Future plans for the church encompass putting “loving the community” into even greater practice.  Although the majority of the church’s activities are focused outward on the community, the objective is that the redeveloped church building will be of greater use for the community, by the community and with the community.

We celebrated our 80^th anniversary in February and at the same time received planning permission for the redevelopment.  It was from this milestone that we have begun serious fundraising - the latest estimates for the work are ≈£400,000.

On April 22^nd we held a launch day at the church and received pledges and gifts from the present congregation amounting to an amazing £150,000.
